Aladdin III:Return Of Jafar

Writer: Sian SullivanSian Sullivan

Jafar seeks revenge on Aladdin and his companions. Using Iago and a childish thief, Abis Mal, he finally finds a way to destroy Aladdin when he sees a golden opportunity.

Okay...Where do I Start with this mess? thats an hour and a half of my life I’m never getting back. The third instalment of the Aladdin franchise feels like it was produced for the sole purpose of a money grab and it’s a shame. This seems to be a common theme with sequels, Disney rush out a sequel to cash in on a popular storyline and sacrifice substance.I’m gonna try and do this as fairly as possible but I feel like my brains been scrambled. let’s start with the positives:

•young children may enjoy this film for the bright colours alone and the uncomplicated plot line

•If you enjoy the Characters it’s a chance to spend one last Hurrah with them

Thats it.Thats all I’ve got on the positives. so let’s get down to the Negatives:

•The songs are very forgettable and I didn’t feel any emotional response to them let’s face it one of the best aspects of the first film was the soundtrack.

•Dan Castellaneta (Best known for Homer from The Simpsons) takes over the role of Genie from Robin Williams, and although he doesn’t do a terrible job, let’s face it...he’s no Robin Williams

•felt very rushed and very low budget. This production was created by Walt Disney Television Animation, which may go a little way to explaining this.

•The redemption of Iago. Was it really necessary???

in conclusion I was thoroughly disappointed in this film it could of been soo much more.If you’ve not seen it watch at your own peril....
